At Shift we believe that teams exist to produce results. How a team is led, how they work together and how they work with other teams is the key to success.
We work with many teams within the organization from the executive team that is trying to meet specific strategic initiatives, manage change and engage employees to follow the company’s mission to operational teams that are trying to improve productivity and every team in between. We also coach multiple teams together to break down silos, increase communication resulting in smoother operations and better business outcomes.
Shift uses a new approach to create positive and productive teams. The work is done in the context of your business using real business issues and dealing with them in the moment.
Team coaching is a relatively new way of working with teams. In the past there were many teambuilding programs that focused on helping people get along with one another. Although this is desirable it is not the sole requirement of productive teams.
The work tended to be done out of context and teams were taught to sail a boat or build a castle out of tinker toys. They then had to translate their learnings back on the job with very little success. There was also a strong focus on the individuals within the team.
Shift focuses on the system as a whole, the premise being that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The team coach participates with all the individual members of your team at the same time. The coach effectively joins your team’s system and the team’s system is the client. We work with your team to explore the fundamental question “What is trying to happen?”
